Oswald Tweh is a distinguished Liberian legal practitioner and public servant, currently serving as the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Liberia. He is presently on a leave of absence from his role as Managing Director of his firm, where he previously provided strategic legal leadership and advisory services. With decades of experience in both legal practice and institutional governance, Tweh has builta strong reputationfor excellence in corporate and commercial law, as well as public sector leadership. 

Tweh’s academic background reflects a solid foundation in law and legal scholarship. He earned a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree from Cuttington University in 1984, followed by a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B., Honors) from the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law in 1986. He further advanced his legal education by obtaining a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Harvard Law School in 1988. His academic training has significantly contributed to his expertise in corporate taxation, corporate law, international business, commercial transactions, and litigation. 

He is an active member of several prestigious legal bodies, including the Liberia National Bar Association where he served as President from 2006 to 2008, the New York State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. His professional affiliations underscore his commitment to upholding high legal standards and contributing to the advancement of the legal profession both nationally and internationally. 

Throughout his career, Tweh has held numerous influential positions across academia, legal practice, and governance. He served as Assistant Professor of Law at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law from 1992 to 1996 and was Managing Partner at Brumskine & Associates between 1991 and 1999. His extensive public service includes roles such as Member of the National Board of Bar Examiners, the Judicial Inquiry Commission, and the Grievance & Ethics Committee of the Supreme Court of Liberia. He has also contributed to corporate and institutional governance as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Industrial Property Office, Chairman of the Liberia Telecommunications Corporation (LTC), and Member of the Board of the Liberian National Oil Company. In addition, he has played leadership roles within the Liberia Chamber of Commerce, serving as a member of its Executive Council and later as President in 2021, as well as within the Judicial Council of the United Methodist Church, where he continues to serve.
